The stately crane is installed among reeds and grasses, which is appropriate for the valley where marshlands still protect cranes today.
Bruno Groth was born in 1905 in Stolp, Germany and moved to the United States in 1923. Groth lived most of his life in Humboldt County, California but had many one person shows around the country in cities such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco (de Young Museum), and Los Angeles. His work was also exhibited at the Brussels World’s Fair in 1957. There are many commissions of his throughout California as well as New York and the Pacific Northwest.
